In October, Ian Livingstone, co-founder of Games Workshop and a former boss of Eidos, called for public money to be invested in boosting Britain’s computer games industry on the global stage. Proposals have been made to the Treasury calling for an annual £7.7m to create a new body modelled on the British Film Institute.

In a recent analysis on the state of play of gaming finances in the UK by The Times, Nick Field, Director at Livingstone comments on the trend of investors giving attention to gaming businesses who have already achieved scale, and the evidence of a ‘classic’ equity gap.
