Ryan is a Partner and co-head of Livingstone’s Healthcare practice. He is one of Livingstone’s most tenured employees, joining the firm at its inception in 2007, and has been instrumental in supporting Livingstone’s growth and deal activity in the U.S.  During his 18+ year career, Ryan has advised and transacted with publicly held multi-national corporates, independent and family-owned businesses, mid-market private equity firms, family offices, lenders/debt providers, and other alternative financial investors. His experience also includes advising on numerous cross-border transactions.

As co-head of the Healthcare practice, Ryan has particular expertise in multi-unit healthcare providers, physician practice management platforms, healthcare staffing firms, and dental service organizations.  Ryan is one of the most active M&A advisors to the physical therapy industry, completing over 20 deals in the sector and advising on transactions that led to the formation of five of the 15 largest private equity-backed physical therapy platforms.  In addition to healthcare, Ryan has advised clients in the business services, consumer, and industrial sectors.

Beyond his investment banking day job, Ryan manages Livingstone’s affiliated private investment entities, which make equity commitments on behalf of the firm’s private partnership.

Ryan has been quoted in M&A and industry-specific publications such as MergerMarket, PE Hub, the PPS Impact Magazine, and The Deal Magazine. He has also been a guest speaker at Harvard Business School, Northwestern Pritzker School of Law, The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, Chicago-Kent College of Law, and various panels discussing M&A topics.

Before Livingstone, Ryan worked as an analyst at a Chicago-based investment bank and the workout group of Merrill Lynch Business Financial Services.

Ryan resides in the Old Town neighborhood of Chicago with his wife and three children.  He is originally from Muskegon, Michigan.
