Livingstone has advised ruhrfibre and metrofibre on the sale of their fibre infrastructure to Telekom Deutschland GmbH by way of an asset deal. As part of the transaction, Telekom is acquiring the fibre network built to date, covering around 87,000 households. Parts of the infrastructure have already been completed, while others are still at various stages of roll-out.
The agreed sale secures a solution for the fibre network built to date. Following completion of the transaction, Telekom plans to integrate the acquired infrastructure technically into its own network architecture and its ongoing fibre roll-out. Once this work has been completed, the network will be open both to Telekom customers and to other telecommunications providers to offer their fibre products and internet services.
Sebastian Engelbrecht, Associate Partner at Livingstone, commented: “The sale provides a long-term future for the fibre infrastructure that has already been built. Its integration into Telekom’s network will allow the existing infrastructure to be developed further. We are delighted to have supported ruhrfibre and metrofibre on this important transaction.”
Livingstone acted as exclusive M&A adviser to ruhrfibre and metrofibre in preparing and executing the sale process. The transaction underlines Livingstone’s experience in M&A transactions across fibre, telecommunications and digital infrastructure.
