Livingstone acted as exclusive M&A advisor to the shareholders of the project company on the structured sale of the 50 MW battery storage project “VOLTA” in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to BW ESS.
Zelos Energy Developments GmbH (“ZELOS”) is a Berlin-based project developer specializing in the development of grid-scale battery energy storage systems (BESS) in Germany. The company oversees the entire development cycle – from site acquisition through to ready-to-build stage – working closely with municipalities and local stakeholders.
The project was acquired by BW ESS, a Zurich-based subsidiary of BW Group, one of the world’s leading maritime energy and infrastructure groups. The acquisition of VOLTA is part of a broader strategic partnership under which BW ESS and ZELOS are jointly developing a 1.5 GW BESS portfolio in Germany.
Dr. Roland Schulz and Matti Schroeder of Livingstone Partners: “The successful sale of VOLTA highlights the strong investor appetite for battery storage in Germany, and we are pleased to have supported ZELOS on this landmark transaction.”
