Livingstone scores a bit with the sale of CD Castellón
CD Castellón has been acquired by Haralabos Voulgaris. The sale operation of the albinegro club has been financially advised exclusively by Livingstone Partners representing the seller, Capital Albinegro, S.L.
After completing the 5-year strategic plan undertaken by buyer Capital Albinegro, reinforcing the club’s management and play structure, and culminating in the club’s centenary year, Vicente Montesinos, managing director of Capital Albinegro, asked Livingstone Partners to find an ideal candidate to lead the club into a successful future. The main objective of Capital Albinegro was to ensure the stability of the club and a project designed to maximize the chances of success.
During its 100 years of existence, CD Castellón has always been among the most successful Spanish football clubs, remaining for 65 years in Spanish professional football. It is a historic club with a unique fanbase. Since Capital Albinegro took control of the club, the average number of subscribers has been 13,000 per season.
Livingstone received offers from numerous stakeholders around the world and worked closely with the buyer and seller to ensure a common vision and smooth transition for the club.
“It has been a real pleasure to work with Livingstone during this process. Transactions in football are extremely difficult and Livingstone managed to filter among all the possible buyers to find the candidate who met our objectives: a reasonable valuation, but above all the right investor to take the team to new heights. Neil and Guillem never lost that focus,” said Vicente Montesinos, CEO of Capital Albinegro.
«We are delighted to have found a very strong new owner for CD Castellón, who will work tirelessly to ensure the future success of the club, with a vision that will excite the loyal fans of Castellón. Working with Vicente Montesinos and Capital Albinegro has been a pleasure and their insistence on finding the best investor for the future of the club speaks volumes about their priorities in the operation,” said Neil Collen, partner at Livingstone, who led the operation.
“Livingstone Partners wishes the best of luck to the new owners. We hope to see CD Castellón back in professional football soon. This operation demonstrates once again the growing global interest in Spanish football,” said Guillem Vercher, an analyst at Livingstone, who supported the operation.
