NARCONOVA to implement future growth plans with Ortivity
Livingstone has advised the anesthesiology practice group NARCONOVA on the sale of a majority stake to the orthopedic practice group Ortivity GmbH led by Apheon Capital. Through the partnership with Ortivity, the dynamically growing anesthesiology group would like to drive its growth further and benefit from the upcoming potential in outpatient care. The founder and managing partner, Dr. Carsten Nitschke, will retain a significant stake in the group.
NARCONOVA was founded in 2015 and is one of the leading practice and clinic groups for anesthesiology services in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The Group serves a mid-double-digit number of specialist practices, hospitals, and private clinics and operates its private clinic and several surgical centers. The Ortivity Group, part of the portfolio of investment company Apheon Capital, has made a majority investment in NARCONOVA and the private clinic it operates.
Over the past few years, NARCONOVA has become one of the leading regional providers of anaesthesiologic services and now employs approximately 100 staff and specialists. Integrating into the Ortivity orthopaedic group gives NARCONOVA access to many practice locations and surgical centers in North Rhine-Westphalia, complementing Ortivity’s service range.
“NARCONOVA has become known in NRW as a supra-regional partner of clinics and specialists for anaesthesiological care as well as the provision of operating room capacities, practice and private clinics. By integrating into the Ortivity Group, we will tap into the potential arising from the increasing outpatientization of surgical services and thus increase our growth. Livingstone’s healthcare specialists provided me with excellent advice in a complex transaction across several CT areas and were able to achieve a very good negotiation result,” says Dr. Nitschke, founder and managing partner of NARCONOVA.
“We are very pleased to have found an experienced partner in NARCONOVA for the anesthesiology care and the operation of outpatient surgery centers. The surgical care of our patients in outpatient surgery centers is of key importance, particularly given the steady increase in outpatient care. Creating urgently needed outpatient structures is essential to address the shift from the overloaded inpatient sector. We are delighted to have Dr. Nitschke as a competent partner who complements our expertise in this field,” added Konrad Kofen, Head of M&A at Ortivity.
Christian Grandin, Managing Partner at Livingstone, said, “Ortivity proved to be the preferred buyer in a competitive bidding process, as the offer parameters and the future strategy convinced the shareholder. We are delighted that Dr. Nitschke has found the right partner for the further development of NARCONOVA and would like to thank him for the successful cooperation.”
This is the Livingstone Healthcare team’s 17th successful transaction in the past financial year 2023, following Ortivity’s investment in MVZ GSK Rhein/Ruhr, the sale of Physio CKI Beteiligungs GmbH to Kapital 1852, the three successful divestments for Centers for Autism & Related Disorders, LLC and the financing and acquisition of CAM Bioceramics B.V. by SHS Capital, among others.
