Swedish group AddLife AB (AddLife), listed on Nasdaq Stockholm, has acquired Unicam Sistemas Analíticos, Lda. (Unicam), a leading Portuguese distributor of high-end scientific instrumentation and laboratory analysis systems. The transaction, which closed on September 8, 2026, brings Unicam into AddLife’s Labtech business area and strengthens the group’s position in advanced laboratory technology.
Headquartered in the Lisbon area (Algés, Oeiras) and operating since 1991, Unicam is a leading Portuguese distributor of advanced analytical laboratory equipment, offering instruments, consumables, technical support, service, and training in chromatography, spectrometry, and microwave technology. The company generates annual revenue of over €10 million, employs a team of 20, and serves universities, research institutions, and industrial customers across Portugal, supported by a strong market reputation for quality and service and long-standing customer relationships.
AddLife is an independent European Life Science group offering high-quality products, services, and advice to both the public and private sectors. It has around 2,300 employees across some 85 operating subsidiaries and net sales exceeding SEK 10 billion, and is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm. With the acquisition of Unicam, AddLife expands its presence in Portugal within its Labtech area; in line with the group’s decentralized management model, Unicam will continue to operate under its own brand and with a high degree of operational independence.
“Unicam has built a strong market position in Portugal, combining deep specialist expertise with long-standing customer relationships in chromatography, spectrometry, and microwave technology. This is fully aligned with our strategy of acquiring advanced laboratory instrument companies that also sell consumables and provide services. Together with Unicam’s strong leadership team, we see significant opportunities to support the company’s continued development and growth,” said Mattias Bengtsson, Vice President, BioMedical & Research at AddLife.
“These processes are long and demanding, particularly for the sellers, and that is precisely where effective advice that defends your interests makes the difference. On behalf of Unicam, I would like to thank Livingstone for the dedication and professionalism they showed throughout the process,” said Daniel Ettlin, General Manager and selling shareholder of Unicam Sistemas Analíticos.
“I would like to add my thanks to Daniel’s. This was a demanding and complex process, and Livingstone’s commitment was decisive: Jaime and Toni guided us through every stage with great professionalism and dedication until we reached a successful outcome,” said Alfredo Biel, the company’s majority selling shareholder.
“We are proud to have advised Unicam’s shareholders on this successful cross-border sale, guiding them through a structured process to secure the right strategic partner in AddLife and deliver an optimal outcome. The transaction reflects Livingstone’s deep sector expertise in life sciences and laboratory instrumentation, together with our ability to execute complex, cross-border mid-market M&A,” said Jaime Valero, Director at Livingstone Partners.
